Job Summary:
The Purchase Manager will oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring high-quality supplies, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, and inventory control to support production, R&D, and operational needs in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to source raw materials, APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), packaging materials, and equipment while ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors; negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure timely deliveries.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all purchases comply with pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., GMP, FDA, CDSCO) and industry standards.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and coordinate with production teams to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Cost Optimization: Analyze market trends and supplier pricing to achieve cost savings without compromising quality. Target a minimum of 5-10% cost reduction annually.
- Purchase Order Management: Oversee the creation, approval, and tracking of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
- Risk Management: Mitigate supply chain risks by diversifying suppliers and maintaining contingency plans for critical materials.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with R&D, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to align procurement with production schedules and product requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance; provide regular reports on procurement metrics (e.g., cost savings, delivery timelines).
- Sustainability: Promote sustainable sourcing practices, prioritizing eco-friendly and ethically produced materials where possible.
