Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong analytical skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across data engineering and data analytics—designing and managing data pipelines, while also interpreting data and delivering insights to business teams.

This role is well-suited for someone with a financial domain background, who enjoys solving complex data problems, building scalable solutions, and working closely with stakeholders to translate data into business value.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Architecture

• Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines (batch & streaming) for large-scale financial datasets.
• Manage data ingestion (APIs, CDC, files, event streams) and ensure data quality, lineage, and integrity.
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) for scalable storage and compute solutions.
• Implement ETL/ELT workflows, orchestration (Airflow/Prefect/Dagster), and monitoring.

Analytics & Business Insights

• Translate financial data into actionable insights, dashboards, and reports.
• Partner with analysts and stakeholders to define metrics, KPIs, and reporting requirements.
• Build data models optimized for BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and ad-hoc analysis.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with data security and financial regulatory standards (SOC 2, GDPR, etc.).
• Define and maintain SLAs, data quality checks, and governance processes. Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, business, and client teams).
• Participate in design reviews, provide technical guidance, and share best practices.
• Take ownership of project deliverables with a focus on quality, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

Must Have

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data analytics (preferably in the financial domain).
• Strong SQL skills with experience in relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python for data transformation, pipeline development, and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT workflows, data orchestration tools, and cloud data platforms (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, GCP BigQuery, or similar).
• Experience with data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial data and create meaningful insights.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to financial datasets such as banking, investment, payments, or treasury systems.
• Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, PubSub).
• Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) for dashboard/report development.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD pipelines) for data projects.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks relevant to finance.
