Who You Are

As a BI Engineer, you are a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights. You have a deep understanding of data structures, business requirements, and reporting needs, enabling you to design and implement scalable data solutions. Your technical expertise spans data warehousing, pipeline development, and visualization tools, allowing you to empower stakeholders with reliable and efficient data-driven decisions. You thrive in a collaborative environment, take ownership of data governance, and are proactive in identifying opportunities for process automation and optimization.

Key Attributes

  • Proficient in tools like Redshift, Snowflake, and SQL, with experience in Python and data pipeline development.
  • Analytical mindset with a knack for data modelling and reporting automation especially for analytics platforms like Tableau, Superset, PBI etc.
  • Experience is sprint methodology including sprint planning, execution, tracking etc.
  • Strong communicator who bridges the gap between technical data structures and business needs.
  • Committed to ensuring data accuracy, sanctity, and usability across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

Data Mastery and Preparation:

  • Design and manage scalable, high-performance data pipelines and data warehouse tables.
  • Develop and optimize moderately to highly complex data processing jobs using SQL, Mozart, Snowflake, and Python.
  • Lead data cleansing efforts to ensure reporting readiness and data integrity.

Data Modelling and Governance:

  • Define and implement efficient data models to support regular and ad-hoc reporting needs.
  • Test and validate data rigorously to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Own and promote data cataloging and governance initiatives for secure, democratized data access.

Actionable Insights and Stakeholder Empowerment:

  • Analyze and visualize data to deliver actionable recommendations tailored to stakeholder requirements.
  • Create and distribute reports and dashboards on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
  • Provide training to end users, enabling self-serve analytics and empowering them to make data-driven decisions.
  • Utilize your strong command of SQL to think through how to: (a) translate business requirements into informed design decisions, and (b) build your own Tableau dashboards, when needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with various pods to interpret business requirements and adapt data solutions accordingly.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting processes for efficiency and scalability.

Experience/Education/Certifications Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, analytics, or a related field.
  • Advanced SQL expertise with experience handling complex queries and data transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and operations best practices, including version control, data quality assurance, testing, and monitoring.
  • Data modeling expertise with experience in ETL, Data Warehousing, and Data Lakes.
  • Data visualization skills using Tableau to create compelling dashboards and reports.
  • Programming proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Java) for data processing and analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical measures and techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to less technically sophisticated stakeholders and data professionals.
