Role Overview

Seeking an AI Application Engineer to independently design, prototype, evaluate, and deploy AI solutions tailored to healthcare needs. Collaborate with radiologists, clinicians, and leadership to transform medical requirements into practical applications like report analysis, clinical NLP, diagnostic dashboards, open-source model evaluation, and workflow automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build AI-powered applications and internal tools for clinical and operational workflows.

  • Develop NLP and vision models for radiology/pathology report understanding, medical document summarization, structured extraction, and CT/MRI/X-ray inference using open-source models.

  • Create risk prediction, anomaly detection, and patient analytics dashboards.

  • Evaluate, fine-tune, and benchmark models like LLaMA, BioGPT, MedSAM, MONAI, and VLMs.

  • Design scalable inference pipelines and integrate with hospital systems (HIS/RIS/PACS).

  • Produce research-grade evaluations, performance reports, and compliance documentation.

  • Collaborate with medical experts to iterate based on clinical feedback.

  • Monitor emerging healthcare AI research, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Strong Python proficiency with PyTorch/TensorFlow and FastAPI/Flask.

  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, VLMs, medical NLP, embeddings, and RAG pipelines.

  • Familiarity with medical imaging tools (MONAI, TorchIO, SimpleITK, DICOM).

  • Expertise in open-source model inference, evaluation metrics (BLEU, ROUGE, Dice, IoU, precision/recall).

  • Containerization and deployment knowledge (Docker; Kubernetes preferred).

  • Dashboard development using Streamlit, Gradio, or React.

  • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability to clinical environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with PACS/RIS/HIS integrations.

  • NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, or GPU acceleration.

  • Work with medical datasets (MIMIC-IV, NIH ChestXray, BraTS).

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy, and healthcare compliance.

  • Medical domain experience preferred.

  • Publications, hackathon participation, or healthcare AI research
