Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES) and/or other spectrochemical testing equipment for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Carry out routine and specialized chemical analysis of metals and alloys as per applicable standards (IS, ASTM, ISO, etc.).
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through proper calibration, validation, and use of reference standards.
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret test reports with attention to precision and timelines.
- Supervise sample preparation (grinding, polishing, cleaning) and ensure adherence to proper procedures.
- Troubleshoot analytical issues with spectrometer equipment and coordinate with service engineers for preventive / corrective maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with NABL / ISO 17025 requirements, maintaining proper documentation, records, and audit readiness.
- Train and guide junior chemists/technicians in spectro testing methods and laboratory best practices.
- Assist in method development, process improvements, and introduction of new testing capabilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and proper handling of laboratory equipment and samples.
