About the Institution
A prominent private institution in Bengaluru offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, and Science.
Role Overview
The Principal will serve as the academic and administrative head of the institution. The incumbent is expected to provide strategic leadership to uphold academic standards, drive research initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance the institution's accreditation status. The role requires a visionary leader with deep subject-matter expertise and a proven track record in recognized higher education environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership and Technical Expertise
- Oversee the effective delivery of the curriculum across undergraduate (BBA, B.Com, BCA, B.Sc, BHM) and postgraduate (MBA, MCA, M.Sc) programs in alignment with university affiliations.
- Spearhead the Research and Development cell; mentor faculty in publishing high-impact research papers in Scopus/WoS indexed journals.
- Monitor and upgrade laboratory infrastructure and technical resources for Science and Computer Application departments to ensure industry relevance.
- Ensure the precise execution of examination and evaluation processes as per the affiliating university's norms.
2. Institutional Administration and Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory norms prescribed by AICTE, UGC, the State Government, and the affiliating university.
- Manage the institution's daily operations, including resource allocation, faculty deployment.
- Lead the recruitment and performance appraisal of teaching and non-teaching staff, ensuring a high-quality faculty retention ratio.
3. Accreditation and Quality Assurance
- Lead the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
- Direct the preparation and submission of Self Study Reports (SSR) and Self Assessment Reports (SAR) for NAAC and NBA accreditations.
- Implement strategic measures to improve the current accreditation grading (aiming for A/A+) through documentation, process improvement, and academic audits.
4. Student Development and Admissions
- Develop strategies to enhance student intake for current strength expansion beyond 1200 students.
- Foster an environment conducive to holistic development, discipline, and student welfare.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications
- Ph.D. Degree: Mandatory. The Ph.D. must be in a discipline relevant to the institution's offerings (Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, or Applied Sciences) with evidence of published work and research guidance.
- Master's Degree: Must possess a Full time Master's degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university.
Professional Experience
- Total Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and/or administration in universities, colleges, or other institutions of higher education.
- Rank Requirement: Experience as a Principal/ Vice-Principal/Dean/HoD/Professor in a recognized college or university is essential.
- Research Score: A minimum relevant research score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) set out in UGC regulations.
- Administrative Experience: Proven experience in guiding Ph.D. students and handling administrative portfolios such as Head of Department, Dean, or Vice-Principal.
Competencies and Technical Skills
- Subject Matter Expertise: Technical understanding of current trends in Management, Computer Applications (AI/ML context), or Life Sciences to guide departmental heads effectively.
- Accreditation Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the revised NAAC accreditation framework and NBA outcome-based education (OBE) models.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Karnataka State Universities Act and UGC/AICTE approval process handbooks.
Performance Expectations
- Accreditation Upgrade: tangible improvement in the next cycle of NAAC accreditation and securing NBA accreditation for eligible programs.
- Research Output: Increase in the volume of funded research projects and quality publications by the faculty.
- Academic Excellence: Improvement in university rank holders and pass percentages across all disciplines.
