Job Title: Field Engineer – Marine Communication & Navigation Systems

Reports To: Technical Manager / Service Manager

Role Overview

The Field Engineer will be responsible for attending vessels and shore-based sites to carry out installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of advanced satellite communication systems and marine navigation equipment. This role demands strong hands-on expertise with gyro-stabilized antenna systems, secure communication components, and IT networking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend vessels and shore-based locations for the installation, commissioning, service, and repair of marine satellite communication and navigation equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to:
  • Gyro-stabilized antenna systems (e.g., KVH, OneWeb, Starlink)
  • Inmarsat solutions (VSAT, FleetBroadband [FBB], Fleet Xpress)
  • Iridium terminals, Citadel/IsatPhone systems
  • Firewalls, IT networking hardware, and secure communication systems
  • CCTV, GMDSS, and other navigation equipment
  • Configure and maintain NAVARINO Infinity systems and similar integrated communication platforms.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates within manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide technical support and remote assistance when required.
  • Maintain detailed service reports, documentation, and customer records.
  • Coordinate with the internal technical team, logistics, and clients for seamless service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards during all field activities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience with KVH, OneWeb, Starlink, Inmarsat, FleetBroadband, Fleet Xpress, Iridium, Citadel/IsatPhone systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IT networking, hardware firewalls, and secure communication setups.
  • Familiarity with marine navigation systems, including GMDSS and radar integration.
  • Working knowledge of CCTV installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues independently.
  • Strong coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with multicultural teams.
  • Flexible, dynamic, and able to adapt to demanding schedules and offshore/onboard assignments.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a positive, proactive, and customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant marine electronics experience (satellite communication & navigation systems).
  • Valid seafarer documents or willingness to obtain as per job requirements.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including offshore and international assignments.

Job Type: Full-time
