Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) is a statutory multi-disciplinary body established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It focuses on combating organized wildlife crime across the country. Headquartered in New Delhi, WCCB operates through regional offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Jabalpur, as well as sub-regional offices in Guwahati, Amritsar, and Cochin. The Bureau is tasked with collecting and sharing intelligence on wildlife crimes, coordinating enforcement actions, building the capacity of crime enforcement agencies, and advising on policies and laws related to wildlife crime prevention both nationally and internationally.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Guwahati for an Intelligence Assistant. The Intelligence Assistant will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence related to organized wildlife crime. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring wildlife crime activities, coordinating with various enforcement agencies, maintaining centralized wildlife crime data, contributing input for actionable intelligence, assisting in investigations, and supporting inter-agency cooperation. The role also requires preparing detailed reports and maintaining records as part of ongoing wildlife crime prevention efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience in intelligence gathering, analysis, and dissemination
  • Knowledge of wildlife laws and regulations, including the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and CITES
  • Proficiency in investigation techniques and data management
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for coordinating with multiple agencies
  • Ability to work on-site in Guwahati
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or wildlife conservation is beneficial
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Environmental Studies, or related field
