The Dorm Parent plays a crucial role in creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for students living in the dormitory. This role involves overseeing students daily routines, ensuring their well-being, and providing basic healthcare support. The ideal candidate will act as a mentor, guide, and caregiver while also handling minor medical concerns and coordinating with the school nurse or medical staff when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Care & Supervision:

  • Provide a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for students.
  • Supervise daily routines, including wake-up, meals, study hours, and bedtime.
  • Dorm Parent shall complement with the schoolteachers and other hostel staff in addressing the day-to-day needs of children.
  • It includes assistance in curricular and co-curricular activities. Foster a sense of community, respect, and responsibility among students.
  • Address disciplinary and behavioural concerns in accordance with school policies.
  • As a tutor, dorm parent will be teaching interesting and informative (collect information for notice board and class rooms) topics.
  • Induct students into hostel life and conduct transition activities cum bonding exercise for those students who are moving to hostel from different geographic and cultural context.
  • Support pupils to resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to learning and other activities in the hostel.
  • Draw up action plans to ensure the all-round development of child.
  • Monitor the academic and co-curricular performance of each child document the same in the prescribed format.
  • Support hostel in organizing and running extracurricular activities, such as sports, music on holidays or as the annual action plan.
  • Maintain the addresses and telephone numbers of student's parents and local guardian to contact in case of emergency.

Administrative & Facility Management:

  • Ensure dormitory cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance needs are reported.
  • Keep records of student activities, incidents, and disciplinary actions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and school administration about students' well-being.
  • Enforce dormitory rules and safety protocols.
