The impact you'll make
As a Software Application Engineer at Lam, you'll be at the forefront of driving innovation and adoption of our software products. You'll support fast product evolution through agile processes by analyzing, designing, programming, testing, debugging, and enhancing software applications. With your expertise and initiative, you'll turn ideas into great products that support advancements in Lam's semiconductor technology.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on the innovation and efficiency of Lam's products and services. By developing enterprise grade software applications, you will enable data-driven decision making, optimize workflows, enhance user experience, and improve quality and performance of Lam's hardware and processes.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain [insert software application(s) or focus area].
- Drive adoption of internal software products across Lam.
- Collaborate with application teams and process engineers in planning, data collection, modeling, data analysis, and report results to stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally to understand Product roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, software requirements, and business use cases.
- Provide requirements and user stories to product managers and developers to ensure required capabilities are available for applications.
- Acts as single point of contact accountable for applications and key projects.
- Works with stakeholders to determine appropriate multi-product workflows or integration including database connections to transform data between the application and the database.
- Develop clean, scalable, maintainable, and testable application code.
- Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to enhance functionality of software applications.
Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 3+ years; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in [insert specifics e.g., front-end, back-end, data analysis].
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in python, [insert other specific programming language], or similar programming languages.
- Familiarity with software product development methodologies.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adjust to shifting priorities, and meet business needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate and communicate with diverse, cross-functional, and matrixed internal and external partners.
- Prior semiconductor experience is preferred.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
