Vice Principal – Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Vice Principal serves as the second-in-command of the school, supporting the Principal in all areas of academic, administrative, and student affairs. The role includes ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining discipline, monitoring teaching quality, managing staff, and leading initiatives for school growth and improvement.
Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of the academic calendar and timetable.
- Ensure lesson plans, classwork, and homework are completed as per school standards.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Coordinate assessments, examinations, and evaluation processes.
- Promote innovative and activity-based teaching methodologies.
- Organize academic competitions, subject weeks, and enrichment programs.
2. Administrative Management
- Oversee daily school operations, attendance, and punctuality of staff and students.
- Maintain coordination among departments for smooth functioning.
- Support the Principal in drafting circulars, notices, and official communications.
- Manage duty charts, substitution arrangements, and staff schedules.
- Ensure proper record-keeping, documentation, and report submissions.
3. Student Discipline & Welfare
- Maintain discipline, decorum, and a positive learning environment across the campus.
- Address student behavioral issues with fairness and consistency.
- Counsel students on academic, behavioral, and emotional matters when required.
- Oversee safety and security protocols during school hours and events.
- Encourage leadership and responsibility among students through prefects or house systems.
4. Staff Supervision & Development
- Assist the Principal in staff recruitment, appraisal, and mentoring.
- Conduct teacher training, orientation, and professional development sessions.
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and a culture of accountability among staff.
- Support teachers in using digital tools like Google Classroom, Drive, and Forms.
5. Communication & Coordination
- Act as a bridge between teachers, parents, and management.
- Represent the school in parent meetings and community events when required.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and proposals for the management.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student performance and discipline.
6. Admission & Marketing Support
- Support the Principal in admission-related planning and lead conversion.
- Participate in admission interviews, parent orientations, and school promotional events.
- Ensure that the school campus and classrooms reflect the school's image and culture.
- Assist in monitoring campaigns, enquiry tracking, and admission record management.
7. Co-curricular & Event Management
- Plan and supervise school events, assemblies, annual functions, and celebrations.
- Encourage student participation in sports, arts, and extracurricular activities.
- Coordinate with activity teachers and external trainers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master's Degree in Education or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5–10 years of teaching and administrative experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of CBSE norms and school management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and school ERP tools.
- Ability to motivate teachers and students to achieve excellence.
