Job Description: Senior Accountant

Position Overview:The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the organisation. This position involves overseeing various accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making. The Senior Accountant works closely with the finance team, management, and external stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.

Provide variance analysis to highlight trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.

General Ledger Management:Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Review and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and other adjustments.

Monitor and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in financial records. Also pro-efficient in Tally.

Budgeting and Forecasting:Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures, identifying and explaining variances.

Provide recommendations to improve budgeting and forecasting processes.

Internal Controls and Compliance:Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Assist in audits, both internal and external, by providing accurate financial documentation and explanations.

Financial Analysis:Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making by identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.

Provide insights to help management understand the financial implications of various business initiatives.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments and collections.

Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve billing and payment issues.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial information and support interdepartmental initiatives.

Financial Software and Tools: Utilize accounting software and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency in financial operations.

Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in accounting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP/IFRS).
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
