Job Title: Cost & Estimator / Estimation Engineer

Reports To: Manager – Project

Department: Cost & Estimation

Location: Andheri MIDC, Mumbai

Job Summary

The Cost & Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimations and quotations for projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep understanding of materials and labour costing, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. The position ensures that estimates are aligned with project requirements, historical data, and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Costing & Estimation

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, fabrication, logistics, and on-site services.
  • Verify COGS using historical data, vendor pricing, and internal cost structures.
  • Ensure all estimations maintain company profit margins and meet accuracy standards.

2. Quotation Preparation

  • Develop clear, comprehensive, and transparent quotations aligned with client requirements and project scope.
  • Support the sales team with pricing strategies based on budgets and competitiveness.

3. Technical Drawing Interpretation

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, architectural layouts, and 3D renderings.
  • Identify design specifications, material requirements, and cost-impacting elements.
  • Highlight discrepancies and coordinate with design or project teams for clarification.

4. Vendor & Procurement Coordination

  • Liaise with vendors and procurement teams to gather up-to-date pricing for materials and services.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with project needs.

5. Historical Data & Cost Optimization

  • Review past project data and actual costs to refine and improve estimation accuracy.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, risk areas, and estimation improvement points.

6. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with design, sales, and project teams to validate cost feasibility.
  • Present cost breakdowns in a clear and structured manner.
  • Participate in post-project cost analysis for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in estimation or costing (tradeshows, exhibitions, fabrication, events preferred).
  • Proven experience with detailed cost analysis and quotation preparation.

Skills

  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and 3D design files.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with estimation software preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
