Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Tea Taster & Blender to join our Quality Assurance and Export division. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in maintaining and elevating the quality of our tea blends, specifically tailored for our diverse international clientele. This role is critical to our operations, requiring a refined palate, deep industry knowledge, and a thorough understanding of the nuances of the export market. You will be responsible for tasting, grading, and creating precise blends that meet the stringent standards and unique preferences of our global customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Systematically taste, identify, and grade a wide variety of teas daily, with a strong focus on both Orthodox and CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) varieties from various gardens and regions.
• Develop, refine, and perfect tea blends according to specific client requirements, international market trends, and pre-shipment samples.
• Ensure the consistency and quality of all tea batches, from the initial raw leaf evaluation to the final blended product ready for export.
• Collaborate closely with the procurement and export departments to understand international quality parameters, buyer preferences, and regulatory compliance for different countries.
• Maintain meticulous and organized records of tasting notes, blend formulations, and quality control reports.
• Evaluate samples from suppliers and tea auctions to make informed purchasing recommendations that align with our quality and blending requirements.
• Stay updated on global tea trends, new processing techniques, and competitor activities to contribute to innovation and product development.
• Assist in managing inventory for blending, ensuring the right teas are available to meet export order deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven professional experience as a Tea Taster and Blender, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role.
• Essential: Must have prior experience working within a tea export company or a role with significant exposure to export-related activities and quality standards.
• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of both Orthodox and CTC tea manufacturing processes, characteristics, and quality attributes.
• Demonstrable experience in creating and matching tea blends specifically for international markets (e.g., Europe, Middle East, Russia, USA).
• A highly developed and refined palate with strong sensory evaluation skills to discern subtle notes, defects, and characteristics in tea.
• Familiarity with the entire tea export value chain, including quality control, pre-shipment inspection, and documentation.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and using basic computer applications (MS Office).
