About the Role:

The Project Accounting Assistant Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the financial management and accounting processes related to various projects within the finance and insurance sector. This position ensures accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of project costs, budgets, and financial performance to support strategic decision-making. The role involves collaborating closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The Assistant Manager will also assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ultimately, this position contributes to the financial integrity and success of projects by providing timely and insightful financial information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project accounting or financial management within the finance or insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or assistant managerial role within project accounting.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards specific to the insurance and finance sectors.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day accounting activities related to multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze project financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, and variance analysis to support project managers and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely project billing and revenue recognition.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls to improve project accounting processes.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and audit preparation related to project accounts.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices in project accounting.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during financial audits and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual audit activities

Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software and Excel facilitates efficient data management, reconciliation, and report generation. Strong analytical skills help identify financial trends, variances, and potential risks, allowing for proactive resolution and optimization of project finances. Communication skills are essential for collaborating with project teams, auditors, and leadership to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively. Preferred skills such as ERP system experience and professional certifications enhance the ability to manage complex accounting environments and contribute to process improvements.
