As a Guru you will be accountable for:
Lead the design and implementation of the visual language, including typography, color, iconography, and componentry. Create and manage the tools, resources, and documentation to support product designers.
Provide leadership and guidance to teams on using shared patterns. Identify opportunities to create new patterns and components within their workstreams.
Continuously conduct end-to-end audits of the user interface, resolve discrepancies, and push the visual design system forward across multiple geographies, business units, and channels (Mobile App, Mobile Web, and Desktop).
Re-create and maintain Figma libraries to gatekeep and empower product designers with respect to user interface design.
Work closely with front-end engineers to ensure the design system is effectively utilized in actual code. Collaborate on maintaining and practicing usage of the design system.
Present the design system's mission, library, and process to various groups, including product managers, content specialists, QA, brand, and other design and development teams throughout the organization.
Develop and implement a framework for accessibility and inclusion in both the design and development process.
Identify opportunities for team members to drive and lead system aspects. Nurture team growth and culture, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
We're looking for someone who:
Proven experience in managing design teams within medium to large-scale organizations. A strong portfolio and track record that highlights design systems you have created or largely contributed to.
Strong experience with design systems concepts and tools, governance models, atomic design patterns, and usage of design tokens.
A deep care for visual design craft and excitement to help others level up their visual and interaction execution.
An eye for identifying patterns and problems emerging across projects, and an ability to solve these systematically.
A strong understanding of UI conventions and challenges for responsive web design and native mobile platforms, including UI optimization for best performance and optimal footprint on various devices.
Deep understanding of how to create usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale to millions of users, multiple geographies, and languages (mainly in Southeast Asia).
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
