Role: Sr. Software Engineer – Cognos Developer

Experience:
5–7 Years

Banking / Financial Services


Must-Have Skills

  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent with 5–7 years of professional experience
  • 4–6 years of hands-on Cognos development experience
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Cognos Framework Manager (FM)
  • Dimensional/Relational modeling
  • Cognos Report Studio & advanced visualizations
  • Cognos Analytics 11.x
  • Experience building complex reports, dashboards, scorecards, drill-through/drill-down reports
  • Strong SQL skills; exposure to SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, NoSQL, JSON, flat files
  • Knowledge of star/snowflake schema design, BI semantic modeling, and security (roles/groups/row-level)
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and BI best practices
  • Excellent communication & stakeholder management


Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
  • Cognos Analytics on Cloud
  • Power BI, Azure Analysis Services, other BI tools
  • Experience with Data Warehouses, ODS, Data Lakes
  • BFSI / P&C Insurance domain knowledge


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & implement scalable Cognos BI solutions
  • Performance tuning of reports and models
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs
  • Conduct root cause analysis & support production issues
  • Establish subject matter expertise in Cognos BI
  • Work with Tech Leads on implementation
  • Drive automation, standardization & best practices in BI workflows
