Role Purpose
Set up and lead the TEX Center (Returned Product Failure Analysis and Test Execution) to deliver fast, accurate, and actionable analysis of returned/failed products. Build a high-performing team, establish lab capabilities and processes, meet SLA commitments, reduce closure times, and drive product performance improvements through lessons learned and robust corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Act as the central node connecting TEX centers across hubs to enable effective knowledge sharing and standardization.
Key Responsibilities
1) TEX Center Setup & Capability Building
- Define lab layout, utilities, EHS controls, and workflow aligned to product portfolios and test coverage.
- Specify, procure, install, and qualify test equipment and tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, X-ray, CT, environmental chambers, microscopes, rework stations, thermal imaging, data acquisition systems).
- Establish calibration, maintenance, and uptime programs for critical equipment.
- Implement LIMS/CMMS/QMS integration for sample tracking, analysis records, and reporting.
2) Talent Acquisition & People Leadership
- Hire a competent, diverse team (TEX analysts/engineers/technicians), defining roles, skills, and career paths.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team competency through structured training plans and certifications.
- Drive a performance culture with clear goals, regular feedback, and recognition.
3) Operations: TEX Analysis & SLA Management
- Run end-to-end TEX operations: intake, triage, non-destructive and destructive analysis, root cause, validation, closure, and reporting.
- Ensure SLA compliance for returned product analysis—prioritize backlogs, balance workload, and remove bottlenecks.
- Lead daily/weekly operations reviews; publish dashboards (cycle time, throughput, RC confirmation rate, recurrence).
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, traceability, and documentation quality.
4) Root Cause, CAPA & Product Improvement
- Guide systematic analysis using robust methodologies (8D, FMEA, Ishikawa, DOE, FRACAS).
- Translate findings into clear lessons learned; partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to deploy CAPA.
- Validate effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions; track recurrence reduction over time.
5) Training & Competency Development
- Build role-based training matrices covering tools, methods, safety, and product knowledge.
- Conduct regular technical workshops and failure analysis clinics; uplift capability for advanced techniques.
- Certify analysts on critical equipment and methods; maintain competency records.
6) Cross-Hub Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Connect with other Hub TEX centers to standardize processes, taxonomies, templates, and best practices.
- Host global knowledge-sharing sessions; maintain a searchable lessons-learned repository.
- Participate in cross-hub audits/assessments; benchmark performance and adopt improvements.
7) Governance, Compliance & EHS
- Ensure compliance with QMS (e.g., ISO 9001) and applicable lab standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025 practices where relevant).
- Enforce EHS protocols—chemical handling, ESD controls, ergonomics, and safe destructive analysis.
- Prepare for internal/external audits; close findings with sustainable actions.
8) Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Interface with Customer Service, Field Quality, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
- Provide clear, timely communication on high-severity cases; support executive reviews.
- Publish monthly operational and improvement reports; contribute to reliability reviews and product roadmaps.
9) Budget & Asset Management
- Own TEX center budget—capex, opex, spares, calibration.
- Optimize cost-per-analysis and equipment utilization; manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Materials Science or related field.
- 10–15+ years in product failure analysis, reliability/quality engineering, test labs, or service engineering; at least 5+ years in leadership.
- Proven experience setting up labs and building teams.
- Hands-on expertise in failure analysis tools and methods: 8D, FMEA, DOE, Weibull/FRACAS, Pareto, Ishikawa, fault tree, HALT/HASS (as applicable).
- Strong familiarity with test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, microscopes, X-ray/CT, environmental chambers, rework stations, thermal cameras, vibration/shock test, etc. (tailor per product).
- Working knowledge of QMS (ISO 9001), lab practices (ISO/IEC 17025 principles), EHS standards, and calibration systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis & reporting (Excel/Power BI/JMP/Minitab), and lab systems (LIMS/CMMS); ERP/QMS exposure.
