• Purpose of the Job

Client has undergone a major programme of technology transformation, modernising its entire IT estate by migrating to Azure and cloud services, and moving into a Product/DevOps model. The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for continued enhancement, delivery and support of Client's Azure environment.

• Principal Accountabilities
• Development and support of Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery processes, using Azure DevOps, and aligned to best practice.
• Develop tools and processes that drive and improve customer experience through automation.
• Produce design documentation of Cloud solutions and for services being deployed in Azure.
• Development of infrastructure as code, using Terraform, building pipelines and testable secure infrastructure for deploying applications in the cloud.
• Work with Client's Customers, product teams, developers and engineering teams to build long-term solutions.
• Play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of Client's future Cloud Platform, utilising the latest in architectural principals from Microsoft.
• Collaborate and build tools that enable teams to operate safely at high speed and wide scale.
• Develop appropriate metrics to demonstrate performance and operational efficiency.
• Resolve problems at their root with simple and repeatable solutions.
• Provide guidance to the wider Platform, Software, and Data Engineering teams.
• Consideration of TCO of deployed solutions, and good cost management of the platform.
• Providing in depth technical documentation and peer reviews for other platform engineers.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve Azure related issues independently.
• Familiarity with Windows Server OS (Linux experience beneficial)
• Experience in solution architecture, with a focus on scalable infrastructure
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to converse directly with our business.
• Experience with programming and scripting languages especially PowerShell, Terraform, YAML and Ansible.
• CI tools such as Jenkins, Azure Devops or Github Actions.
• Pipeline builds, release packaging and artefact management.
• Enterprise-wide agile methodologies and practices.
• Configuration management software like Ansible or PowerShell DSC.
• Developing Infrastructure as code using Terraform, ARM, Ansible.
• Implementing monitoring and fail over strategies.
• An understanding of static and dynamic security testing tools good understanding of Security and systems best practices.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
