About the role

Fraxxra Tech is looking for an enthusiastic entry-level PHP Laravel developer to join remotely for a short-term/early-career engagement. This is ideal for freshers or candidates with very little formal work experience who want hands-on exposure to real Laravel projects, quick onboarding, and mentorship.

What you'll do (key responsibilities)

  • Assist in developing and maintaining web applications built with Laravel (PHP) under senior developer guidance.
  • Build simple RESTful APIs and integrate them with front-end components.
  • Write clean, well-documented PHP code and follow project coding standards.
  • Help with bug fixes, simple feature enhancements and unit testing.
  • Work with Git for source control (create branches, PRs, basic merges).
  • Participate in daily stand-ups / progress updates and follow task assignments in the project tracker.
  • Learn and apply security and performance best practices for PHP applications.

Required skills (must-haves)

  • Basic knowledge of PHP and familiarity with the Laravel framework (routes, controllers, models, migrations).
  • Understanding of REST APIs and JSON.
  • Familiar with MySQL (basic CRUD, schema design) or another relational DB.
  • Comfortable using Git (clone, branch, commit, push, PR).
  • Basic HTML/CSS and JavaScript knowledge (enough to integrate endpoints with simple front-end).
  • Good problem-solving attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Able to work remotely, communicate clearly over chat/video, and attend short syncs.

Nice-to-have (optional)

  • Exposure to Eloquent ORM, Laravel Artisan, queues, and basic testing (PHPUnit).
  • Prior mini-projects or coursework using Laravel (links to GitHub or demo appreciated).
  • Familiarity with Composer, REST authentication (tokens/JWT), or simple deployment (shared hosting, cPanel).
  • Basic knowledge of Docker or Linux command line.
