Job Title: Manager - Sustainability (R&D)
Location: Chennai R&D

Department/Function:
Main Responsibilities / Job Summary
(Primary deliverables of role and its scope)
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies within the R&D function, aligning with the company's overall sustainability goals and the industry's best practices.
- Identify and develop sustainable product innovations, including low-rolling-resistance tires, lightweight tires, and tires with improved durability and recyclability.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for new tire products and materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Groups, Compounding, manufacturing, and procurement) to integrate sustainability considerations into product development and commercialization.
- Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies relevant to the tire industry.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as industry associations, Suppliers, and academic institutions to foster collaboration and research Projects.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability reporting and communication strategies.
- Support the sustainability certifications and audits in R&D and plants.
Knowledge (Technical/Functional)
Experience in the tire industry or a related manufacturing sector.
Knowledge of ISO 14040/44 LCA standards.
Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or SASD.
Skills
Analytical skills, IT skills, Team player & Co-ordination skills
Qualifications
MSc Chemistry/ B Tech in Rubber Technology/ Polymer Technology / environmental science /Chemical Engineering/ Sustainability, or PhD in a related field.
Experience
3 to 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field.
