Role Overview

  • We are looking for a skilled
    Full-Stack React + Django Developer
    to create a social media platform for our volunteer community website.
  • This system replicates
    PeepSo-style functionality
    — user profiles, feeds, chat, groups, and notifications — inside our new React/Django platform.
  • You won't be starting from scratch. The core architecture, database, and UI structure are already in place.
  • Your job is to
    analyze the existing codebase, complete unfinished modules, fix integrations, and prepare the system for production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing
    React front-end
    and
    Django REST back-end
    codebases to understand structure and dependencies.
  • Complete remaining modules: feed logic, messaging, notifications, and group management.
  • Optimize database models and API endpoints for performance and scalability.
  • Integrate authentication with our existing CLS Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Implement and test real-time updates (WebSockets / Django Channels).
  • Ensure consistent UI behavior and mobile responsiveness.
  • Prepare full
    documentation
    , including environment setup and deployment steps.
  • Coordinate with our internal team for testing, bug fixes, and launch.

Requirements (Must-Have)

  • 3 – 5 years of proven experience in
    React + Django full-stack development.
  • Strong command of
    React Hooks
    ,
    REST APIs
    ,
    Redux or Context API
    , and responsive design.
  • Solid Django experience with
    Django REST Framework
    , models, migrations, and permissions.
  • Hands-on experience with
    WebSockets / Django Channels
    for chat or live feeds.
  • Understanding of
    PostgreSQL
    or similar relational databases.
  • Ability to analyze existing codebases and complete half-built systems.
  • Excellent documentation and version-control discipline (Git / GitHub).

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with
    social-media-like platforms
    (feeds, notifications, chat).
  • Familiarity with
    AWS S3 / Cloudinary
    for media uploads.
  • Knowledge of
    Docker / CI-CD pipelines
    .
  • Prior work in
    non-profit or wellness-tech
    projects.
