Key Responsibilities – Metallurgist

  • Oversee metallographic sample preparation including cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching for both micro and macro examinations.
  • Conduct and interpret metallurgical tests such as grain size, inclusion rating, case depth, decarburization, microhardness, and macro examination in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Support mechanical testing activities (tensile, impact, bend, hardness) by providing metallurgical validation and correlation as required.
  • Examine and document microstructures under an optical microscope and prepare detailed reports with photographic evidence and observations.
  • Participate in metallurgical failure investigations and prepare comprehensive, root-cause-based analytical reports.
  • Prepare and review metallurgical test reports in line with relevant international and national standards (ASTM, IS, BS, EN, etc.).
  • Ensure accuracy, traceability, and completeness of test records and documentation for every sample processed.
  • Maintain NABL-related records, job registers, and report archives in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
  • Adhere to ELCA's internal quality assurance systems and actively participate in method validation, measurement uncertainty evaluations, and inter-laboratory comparison (ILC/PT) activities.
  • Ensure proper upkeep, calibration, and cleanliness of metallurgical testing instruments, tools, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical and Chemical Testing Divisions for integrated or multidisciplinary testing assignments.
  • Interact with clients for technical discussions, clarifications, interpretation of results, and resolution of report-related queries.
  • Support NABL, internal, and external audits by providing necessary documentation, data, and technical inputs.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in testing, documentation, and sample preparation processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in internal and external training programs, technical meetings, and continuous skill enhancement initiatives.

Pay: ₹30, ₹50,000.00 per month
