Chandak Agarwal & Co is seeking a skilled Tax Audit Assistant for a mid-level, full-time position at our Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban location. The candidate will collaborate with a talented team of professionals, supporting tax compliance, audits, and planning activities to achieve our client-focused objectives. We seek applicants with experience in tax and audit functions to uphold our standard of excellence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in tax compliance and the ability to handle various compliance audits efficiently (Mandatory skill).
  • Strong expertise in statutory audits, with a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements (Mandatory skill).
  • Proficient in tax planning, with the ability to identify and implement effective strategies that align with client needs and legislative requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate tax laws, ensuring that the company and its clients are in full compliance.
  • Experience with VAT and an understanding of its implications in both local and international contexts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of accountants and Company Secretaries to deliver outstanding client support.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the aptitude to interpret and apply legislative changes within the accounting sphere.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex information succinctly to clients and team members.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assist in tax audits, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and minimizing risk exposure for clients.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and submission of tax returns, identifying areas for improvement and optimization in reporting processes.
  • Provide support in court or tribunal appearances related to client tax issues, compiling documentation and acting as a liaison with legal experts.
  • Assist in the examination and verification of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Contribute to the development of tax strategies that improve efficiency and reduce tax liabilities for clients.
  • Stay informed of the latest tax regulations and industry trends, advising clients on any changes that may impact their fiscal responsibilities.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all financial transactions to support audits and external reviews.
  • Collaborate with senior auditors and account managers to streamline audit processes and enhance workflow efficiency.
