About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Loan Underwriter to evaluate and assess loan applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal lending policies. The Loan Underwriter will play a critical role in mitigating risk, approving or recommending loans, and supporting the lending process with accurate financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Loan Evaluation & Risk Assessment

  • Review and analyze loan applications, financial statements, credit reports, and supporting documents.
  • Assess applicants creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and collateral adequacy.
  • Evaluate risk factors and make loan approval, conditional approval, or denial recommendations.

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

  • Ensure all loan evaluations comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhere to internal lending policies, credit guidelines, and risk management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records for audit, reporting, and regulatory purposes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with loan officers, mortgage specialists, and branch staff to clarify application details and gather additional information.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions to relevant stakeholders clearly and professionally.
  • Provide guidance and support to sales and branch teams regarding credit requirements and risk mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or professional certification (MBA, CFA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in mortgage, commercial, or personal loan underwriting.
  • Familiarity with automated underwriting tools, credit scoring models, and fintech lending platforms.
