Data Warehouse Tester

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Data Warehouse Tester to join our team and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and performance of data warehouse solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing complex SQL queries, identifying performance bottlenecks, validating ETL processes, and automating testing activities in a banking or financial domain setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze complex SQL queries to validate data accuracy and business requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in SQL and PL/SQL programs to optimize data retrieval processes.
  • Review PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and packages for quality, correctness, and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation in data-centric testing to improve efficiency and coverage.
  • Perform effort estimation for data testing activities including test planning, preparation, execution, and reporting.
  • Prepare comprehensive test plans that include scope, objectives, resources, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Execute data validation and ETL testing to ensure data consistency and integrity across source and target systems.
  • Validate data warehouse data flows and transformations by matching source data against target tables.
  • Work extensively with multiple ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, DataStage), reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata).
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business analysts to clarify requirements, track defects, and drive issue resolution.
  • Use tools such as MS Project for project tracking and coordination.
  • Participate in regression, integration, and system testing, documenting all results and defects clearly.
  • Support production validation and post-deployment testing activities to ensure smooth go-lives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong experience reviewing complex SQL queries and optimizing query performance.
  • Proficient in reviewing and debugging PL/SQL code.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data validation techniques.
  • Experience with data-centric test automation is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in test planning, effort estimation, and use of project management tools.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple ETL and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in banking or financial services domain.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and test automation frameworks.
  • Certifications related to data warehousing, SQL, or testing methodologies.
