CSA - Social Science Teacher / HOD (CBSE)

Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure high-quality Social Science teaching and effective academic leadership within the department. The teacher/HOD is responsible for delivering the CBSE curriculum with excellence, fostering student understanding of Social Science concepts, and maintaining a positive, engaging classroom environment. As HOD, the role further aims to provide academic direction, mentor teachers, standardize teaching practices, and support the school's overall academic objectives by ensuring consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across the Social Science department.

CSA Social Science Teacher / HOD (CBSE)

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning (Teacher & HOD)

  • Teach Social Science subjects (History, Civics, Geography & Economics) as per CBSE guidelines.
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and student-centered learning materials.
  • Deliver engaging classes using activity-based, experiential, and project-based methods.
  • Conduct assessments, evaluate student performance, maintain academic records.
  • Support students in developing map skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
  • Ensure timely completion of syllabus and adherence to academic calendar.

Department Leadership (HOD Only)

  • Oversee the Social Science department's academic functioning across classes.
  • Plan yearly curriculum, resource requirements, and departmental schedules.
  • Review lesson plans, question papers, and assessments for quality and CBSE compliance.
  • Conduct teacher mentoring, classroom observations, and internal training sessions.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning, subject meetings, and professional development.
  • Coordinate academic events such as exhibitions, projects, Olympiads, and field trips.

Student Development & Coordination

  • Monitor student progress and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Guide students during examinations, projects, and research activities.
  • Communicate with parents regarding academic/behavioural updates when required.
  • Support the Principal/Coordinator in school academic initiatives.
