Design Manager Solar Projects

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Coordination:

  2. Coordinate with external design consultants for detailed engineering, civil/structural drawings, and electrical designs.

  3. Review and validate consultant deliverables including SLDs, layout plans, GTPs, and BOQs.

  4. Ensure consultant designs meet project specifications, client requirements, and regulatory standards.

  5. Preliminary Design & Analysis:

  6. Prepare conceptual and initial plant layouts using AutoCAD or similar tools.

  7. Conduct PVsyst simulations and energy yield analysis for bidding and project planning.
  8. Analyse site data, including topography, shadow, and orientation, for layout optimization.
  9. Prepare basic electrical design inputs including module sizing, inverter placement, string sizing, etc.

  10. Project site selection, site visit.

  11. Tender Technical Documentation:


• Prepare and finalize technical documents for tenders including system design briefs, BOQs, and compliance checklists.


• Provide technical support to the BD and Proposal team during RfP and bid submissions.


• Evaluate vendor/consultant offers from a technical perspective during the tendering phase.

  1. Approvals & Compliance:


• Support in documentation required for DISCOM, CEIG, MNRE, and other statutory approvals.


• Ensure adherence to standards including MNRE, IEC, IS, IEEE, and other regulatory norms.

  1. Project Support:


• Provide engineering support during project planning, costing, and early execution stages.


• Conduct technical reviews, risk identification, and value engineering.

Key Skills Required:


• Hands-on experience in PVsyst, AutoCAD, MS Office


• Good understanding of electrical, Mechanical and civil fundamentals of solar power plants


• Familiarity with applicable design standards and local electrical codes


• Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills


• Experience in preparing and reviewing tender technical packages

Preferred Industry Background:


• Solar EPC companies, Renewable Energy Developers, Engineering Consultants, or Technical Advisory Firms.
