We in the Messaging team own everything under the messaging domain at Truecaller. We build, transform, and optimize existing and new features to make messaging more reliable and secure for our users. With over 450 million users, we operate one of the world's largest Instant Messaging (IM) services.

As a Staff Backend Engineer in the Messaging team, you will collaborate with a dedicated team responsible for one of Truecaller's critical systems: the messaging platform. This includes the services to distribute: instant messages, business messages, and push messages. 

The impact you will create: 

• Lead the design and development of high-volume, low-latency services, contributing to the architecture of our distributed systems.
• Collaborate across teams to solve complex technical problems and contribute to key engineering initiatives.
• Contribute to the operational reliability and health of our mission-critical services.
• Identify and implement new solutions and technologies to improve system scalability and reliability.

What you bring in: 

• 10+ years of experience with Scala or Java, and Go.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in data structures and algorithms, with the ability to apply them to novel engineering challenges.
• A strong history of solving systemic technical problems and providing cross-team guidance.
• Mentoring and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience building systems in the Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience building and scaling a messaging platform.
• Experience with external partners' technical relations and support.
