Shift Engineer – Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Operations Management

  • Monitor and operate plant/equipment during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure all systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, utilities, production equipment) run smoothly.
  • Make adjustments to machinery to meet operational parameters.
  • Oversee shift start-up and shutdown procedures.

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical/electrical faults and carry out basic repairs.
  • Coordinate breakdown maintenance and escalate major issues to senior engineers.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed during the shift.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Conduct shift-based safety checks (e.g., fire systems, alarms, PPE compliance).
  • Report incidents, near misses, and hazards.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, standards, and statutory regulations.

4. Monitoring & Documentation

  • Record operational parameters, logs, and daily reports.
  • Update maintenance logs, checklists, and shift handover notes.
  • Track utilities usage (water, steam, electricity, compressed air, etc.) where applicable.
  • Report any abnormal conditions to the maintenance/operations manager.

5. Team Coordination

  • Lead and guide technicians, operators, and support staff during the shift.
  • Coordinate with other departments (production, quality, housekeeping, security).
  • Facilitate smooth shift handovers to the next team.

6. Emergency Response

  • Act as first responder during equipment failures, accidents, alarms, or emergency situations.
  • Take immediate corrective actions to reduce downtime and risk.
  • Communicate critical issues to the management promptly.

7. Quality & Performance Monitoring

  • Ensure production processes meet quality standards (for manufacturing).
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and suggest improvements.
  • Assist in process optimization and energy-saving initiatives.

8. Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor spare parts, tools, and consumable stock levels.
  • Ensure proper use and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Raise requests for replenishment when required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25, ₹35,000.00 per month
