Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Tester / QA Lead with ~10 years of quality assurance and testing experience to lead testing efforts across our POS platform. You will oversee testing of functional components (sales, inventory), payment integrations, system performance, and reliability in production. You'll mentor junior QAs, define QA strategy, establish processes, and ensure high quality delivery in coordination with engineering, product, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, own, and execute the overall QA / Testing strategy for the POS product, covering all major modules including inventory, sales transactions, payments, reporting, and integrations.
• Prepare comprehensive test plans, test cases, test data, and test environments; ensure test coverage across functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.
• Lead both manual and automated testing efforts; contribute hands-on to automation where needed.
• Manage defect tracking, prioritization, and resolution using JIRA; ensure issue lifecycle visibility and timely remediation.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, and technical leads to understand requirements, clarify ambiguity, and assess testability.
• Perform risk analysis and impact assessments for new features, changes, or third-party payment / hardware integrations.
• Ensure payment workflows are secure, compliant (e.g., PCI-DSS where applicable), and robust; validate integration with external payment gateways and hardware.
• Oversee inventory management flows: stock adjustments, reorder triggers, transfers across locations; test edge cases like low stock, partial stock, conflict resolution, offline syncing.
• Monitor key quality metrics (bug rates, test coverage, customer reported defects, uptime); provide QA dashboards / reports to leadership.
• Mentor, guide, and review work of junior or mid-level QA/test engineers; establish and enforce QA best practices, coding standards for automated tests, documentation.
• Streamline CI/CD pipelines to include automated test suites; collaborate with DevOps to integrate testing into deployment workflows.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices, tools, and emerging technologies in testing, automation, security.

Required Skills & ExperienceAreaMinimum ExpectationsExperience~10 years in software quality assurance / testing roles, preferably in SaaS / POS / retail sector.Manual TestingStrong expertise in functional, integration, regression, UI, exploratory testing; excellent at crafting edge cases.AutomationDeep experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.) for UI and/or API; ability to build and maintain automated test suites.Tools & TrackingProficiency with JIRA (for test / bug tracking, workflows), possibly add-ons (e.g., Zephyr, Xray, TestRail), Confluence or similar for documentation.API & Integration TestingHands-on with API test tools (Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI etc.); able to test payment gateway/webhook integrations, external service reliability.Performance & Security TestingFamiliarity with performance testing (e.g., JMeter, Gatling), load/stress testing; basic security testing or working with security teams for compliance.Database & BackendComfortable with SQL (PostgreSQL / MySQL / others), inspecting data integrity, verifying transactions, edge conditions; basic idea of backend behavior.Offline & Sync ScenariosTest for offline operations (device disconnected), sync latencies or conflicts, data loss scenarios.ComplianceUnderstanding of payment standards like PCI; data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA etc.), secure handling of sensitive data.Process & MethodologiesDeep exposure to Agile / Scrum, test lifecycle (STLC), contributing to sprint planning, estimating testing effort; drive process improvements.Soft SkillsExcellent communication; leadership & mentoring; risk-based thinking; ability to analyze complex flows; ownership mindset.Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Prior experience specifically in POS systems, retail workflows, hardware integration (receipt printers, barcode scanners, terminals).
• Experience with multitenant SaaS platforms and multi-store inventory.
• Experience with cloud hosting & infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and integrating test suites into pipelines.
• Certifications like ISTQB Advanced / Certified QA Leader.
