Sr Project Engineer

The DFX Engineer will lead the integration of Design-for-X principles into Weatherford's product development lifecycle, ensuring that new designs are optimized across manufacturing, supply chain, reliability, and serviceability dimensions. This role is critical to enhancing product performance, reducing lifecycle costs, and accelerating time-to-market for Weatherford's global portfolio.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM):

• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability by simplifying geometries, standardizing components, and aligning with internal and external process capabilities. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to reduce lead times, minimize waste, and improve production efficiency.

Design for Supply Chain (DfSC):

• Integrate supply chain considerations into design decisions, including material availability, supplier capabilities, logistics constraints, and cost optimization. Work with sourcing and procurement teams to ensure designs support scalable and resilient supply chains. 

Design for Reliability (DfR):

• Apply reliability engineering tools such as FMEA, DRBFM, and fault tree analysis to identify and mitigate failure modes early in the design process. Ensure designs meet reliability goals aligned with customer expectations and field conditions.

Design for Assembly (DFA):

•  Simplify assembly processes by reducing part count, using modular designs, and ensuring ease of alignment and fastening.

Design for Testing (DfT):

• Embed testability into designs to enable efficient validation, diagnostics, and quality assurance during production and field deployment.

Design for Serviceability:

• Ensure that products are easy to maintain, repair, and upgrade in the field, minimizing downtime and service costs.

Design for Safety & Compliance:

Incorporate hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies early in the design phase to meet HSE and regulatory standards

Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience in product design and development, preferably in oilfield services or industrial equipment. 

Proven expertise in applying DFX methodologies across complex engineering projects. 

Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Creo, Pro/E), PLM systems (e.g., Windchill), and reliability analysis software. 

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and reliability engineering

Preferred :

Master's or Ph.D. degree in Engineering or a related technical field. 

Familiarity with downhole tools, drilling systems, Well completion equipment, would be beneficial.

Process & Quality Systems: Experience with quality frameworks and methodologies such as ISO 9001 in an engineering context. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Engineering, or continuous improvement programs in product development is desirable.

A record of innovation evidenced by patents, technical publications, or successful implementation of new technologies in products is valued.
