MFT Support Engineer

Please note that this requires night shift working as role is to support Americas timezone. Purpose of the Role :This is a hands on technical MFT administration & support role, joining our global support team. The team works on administration, product installation / patching, consultations, support via rotating shifts, day to day support to operations ensuring that agreed service levels and project deliverables are met with the expected level of quality, whilst adhering to established global standards and best practices.

Our customers are based across the globe covering all the lines on GB / GF in. The team works also closely with other regional teams and engineering staff and it is expected that team members increase their skills and abilities taking advantage of these links as well as exposure to client developers and support teams. The role requires availability for shift pattern covering non-standard working hours as well as taking part in a rota for out of hours and weekend cover.

Role Expectation :

• Administer MFT infrastructure, activities include onboarding/demising partners, monitoring health of application servers, deploying applications on servers, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Meet the delivery standards as per the agreement that includes quality of deliverables, appropriate documentation.
• Participate in all technical tasks defined for the team.
• Participate in POCs and other technical initiatives.
• Be aware of the ongoing infrastructure issues and vigilant to avoid / minimize downtime of services.
• Understand business, environments, shared services to prioritize incidents.
• Track and resolve incidents per SLA.
• Apply performance monitoring / tuning methodologies to investigate issues.
• Support the security audit remediation and related testing.
• Meet the delivery standards as per the agreement that includes quality of deliverables, documentation.
• Provide timely reports.
• Interact with application teams and other infrastructure teams.
• Work with regions for MIRs and SIPs.
• Identify operational risks and contribute to mitigate the same.
• Proactively identify problem situations, review the problems, engage associates to plan for investigation, and resolution.
• Own the resolution of problems in hand, demonstrate analytical and problem management skills to drive the resolution and prevent recurrence.
• Brainstorm with team leaders and peers on emerging technology trends, constantly question, clarify from teams and ensure that critical technology issues are surfaced and considered.
• Create / maintain knowledge base through documentation, Zoom sessions, managing effective usage and access control.
• Ensure strict adherence HSBC Group Compliance Policies.

Skills Required Essential :

• IBM Sterling File Gateway (Sterling Integrator) Installation, Configuration and Operation.
• IBM Sterling Connect:Direct (Unix / Windows) Installation, Configuration and Operation.
• IBM Sterling External Authentication Server Configuration and Operation.
• IBM Sterling Secure Proxy Configuration and Operation.
• IBM Sterling Control Center Configuration and Operation.
• OpenSSH Installation, Configuration and Operation.
• Excellent general knowledge of file transfer protocols (e.g sFTP, FTPS, C:D, AS2, HTTPS) and products.
• Windows and Linux system administration.
• Knowledge of cryptography / key management (SSL/TLS, SSH, PGP/GPG etc.) and data security.
• Wide experience of operational management of systems.
• Leading and delivering change to processes and systems.
• A strong level of IT literacy, including a broad knowledge of IT infrastructure (operating systems, networking, security).
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• The ability to manage self-workload, set and meet customer expectations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong sense of 'do the right thing' in relation to standards and governance.

• IBM Sterling External Authentication Server Installation.
• IBM Sterling Secure Proxy Installation.
• IBM Sterling Control Center Installation.
• Pragma Fortress Installation, Configuration and Operation.
• Competent Windows/Linux script creation and Installation.
• Hands on administration experience of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Certifications (IBM or equivalent) would be an added advantage.
