  • Design, implement, and manage Sybase database environments.
  • Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
  • Configure and optimize Sybase database parameters for performance and scalability.
  • Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for Sybase databases.
  • Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
  • Perform database tuning and optimization to improve performance.
  • Analyze query execution plans and optimize SQL queries.
  • Implement database indexing strategies.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Manage database user access and permissions.
  • Evaluate and implement database monitoring and management tools.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for database tasks.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
  • Lead complex database infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver database solutions.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and technical specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide on-call support for critical database incidents.
  • Create and maintain detailed database documentation, including configurations, procedures, and diagrams.
  • Generate reports on database performance, availability, and security.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Liaise with Sybase vendors for support and maintenance.
  • Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and solutions.

Required Skills :

  • Sybase Database Administration : Extensive experience in administering and managing Sybase databases.
  • Database Performance Tuning : Strong experience in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • SQL : Advanced SQL skills for query optimization and database management.
  • Database Security : Knowledge of database security principles and practices.
  • Database Tools : Experience with database monitoring and management tools.
  • Automation : Experience with scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Python) for database automation.
  • Operating Systems : Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
  • Troubleshooting : Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Project Management : Experience in managing database infrastructure projects.
  • Communication : Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Required Experience :

  • 9-12 years of experience as a Database Administrator or IT Infrastructure Engineer specializing in Sybase.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Sybase database environments.
  • Strong experience in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience in leading complex database projects.

Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with other database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Experience with cloud-based database services.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Sybase Certified Professional).
