Job Title: Principal AI Engineer - ML OpsCompany: Rapid7About the Team:AI Center of Excellence: Data Scientists and AI Engineers focus on research, prototyping, feature design, and production AI systems. Mission: Enhance customer security using AI/ML, working closely with Detection and Response teams (e.g., MDR). Environment: Collaborative, innovative, and research-driven with internal learning and publication support.

Technologies Used:Cloud: AWSInfrastructure: EKS, TerraformLanguages & Tools: Python (NumPy, pandas), Jupyter NotebooksML: scikit-learn, anomaly detection for unlabeled data

Role Summary:Seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead and scale AI/MLOps initiatives. The role involves designing, deploying, and managing ML systems and infrastructure in production environments.Key Responsibilities:Architect end-to-end ML systems (from scoping to deployment)Manage data pipelines and lifecycle with focus on quality and consistency

Implement ML guardrails and monitoring

Deploy secure web apps and REST APIsMentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing

Embrace agile practices and iterative problem-solving

Required Skills:15 years in software engineering; 3–5 years in ML deployment (esp. AWS)Core Expertise:Python, Flask/FastAPI for API developmentDevOps/MLOps: CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud AI tools

Data pipelines, feature engineering, monitoring

Growth mindset and strong communication/documentation skills

Proven cross-functional collaboration and mentoring experience

Preferred Skills:Understanding of AI/ML model operationsLLM fine-tuning and experimentation support

Model risk management: registries, drift monitoring, hyperparameter tuning
