Qualification / Experience:

Bachelor's / Master's in Mechanical Engineering - Design

10 to 15 years' experience in
Industrial Gearbox
Design (Helical, Bevel-Helical & Planetary)

Job Summary:

The Team Leader – Product Management will lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of industrial gearbox products, combining technical expertise with strategic product ownership. This role is responsible for translating customer and market requirements into innovative, reliable, and cost-effective gearbox solutions. This includes creating optimized designs, analyzing lost orders, identifying focus products, and supporting PLM-related initiatives. The role also requires cost estimation expertise to support proposals, while the main emphasis is on product development tailored to Indian market needs, continuous cost optimization, and ensuring product competitiveness. The incumbent will work cross-functionally with Sales, Customers and Manufacturing to align technical solutions with business requirements and lead the team towards technical excellence.

Software Knowledge:

Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Power Automate), Teamcenter, SAP, knowing NX (Unigraphics) will be an added advantage

Technical Skills & Key Responsibilities:

  • Define product roadmaps aligned with
    business strategy and market requirements.
  • Manage complete product lifecycle — from concept, prototyping, and testing to launch and post-market support.
  • Drive end-to-end design activities, from concept to release, with focus on competitiveness and reliability.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across
    design, R&D, manufacturing, and quality to deliver gearbox solutions.
  • Proven experience in designing
    Helical, Bevel-Helical, and Planetary gear systems.
  • Review and analyze lost orders to derive technical and commercial insights, feeding into future product strategies.
  • Identify and develop gearbox variants suited for the Indian market to enhance portfolio competitiveness.
  • Ensure proper governance of product data in
    Teamcenter and align with global PLM practices.
  • Apply gearbox cost calculation expertise to validate designs and support competitive proposals.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives in products, components, and processes without compromising quality.
  • Partner with Sales, Customers, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business goals. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams for product positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide the design team to deliver accurate, innovative, and timely solutions.
