Job Summary
SGX is seeking a Principal Officer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India GIFT City) to oversee & provide operations & regulatory support for SGX India Connect IFSC Limited (SGX ICI). This role is critical in strengthening regulatory compliance & enhancing operational efficiency for trading, clearing, settlement & post-trade activities related to GIFT Connect Derivatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, innovative leader with strong collaboration skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal & external stakeholders – including vendors, auditors, exchanges and regulators to ensure smooth operations & business growth.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO of SGX ICI, the incumbent will be responsible for the full spectrum of clearing and operational support for SGX ICI. In addition, the role entails ensuring compliance with IFSCA regulations in partnership with the Compliance Officer of SGX ICI, while driving operational excellence & regulatory adherence. The incumbent will serve as a key leader, guiding and coaching the team to deliver high standards of performance and contribute proactively to SGX's strategic initiatives.
Operations & Business
• Lead the team to ensure accurate and timely trading, clearing, settlement and post-trade operations across SGX ICI, SGX-DC, the exchange, and the clearing house.
• Provide solutions for operational exceptions such as error trades and trade alert queries.
• Support exchange and clearing house administration matters, including liaison with local bank counterparties, queries from market participants and SGX-DC operations team, handling of ENIT requests and user access.
• Identify & anticipate emerging trends to drive continuous improvements in systems, processes & rules (both strategic & tactical).
• Review & enhance operational processes to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency and risk management.
• Promote broader networking and collaboration across SGX and industry.
Compliance and Office Administration
• Liaise with audit firms and internal teams for internal and compliance audits, and local regulatory reporting.
• Assist in SEZ compliances for SGX ICI, including liaison with accounting firms.
• Collaborate with Singapore Operations team and Finance team on the monthly cost-sharing & intercompany settlements.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of billings and collections, invoices and payments, in line with company policies, controls and regulatory requirements.
• Support Office administration & Facilities Management matters.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field with at least 5-8 years' experience in managing clearing operations within capital markets industry.
- Strong understanding of IFSCA CMI regulations.
- Prior experience in clearing operations, and audit coordination preferred.
- Strong communication and effective interpersonal skills, along with a curiosity to learn and question. As the environment is fast paced, you should be someone who enjoys challenges at work, is self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Good knowledge of derivatives trading & clearing systems, rules and regulations.
- Strong leadership with passion in coaching others.
- Proven track record of accurate execution and an eye for details.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Ability to deal with crisis and critical situations.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Knowledge in VBA/ R/ Python language is a plus.
