Role Overview

The
Head – Academics (School Division)
will be responsible for overseeing academic content development, ensuring quality benchmarks, managing editorial and subject expert teams, and driving the timely delivery of school-level educational materials. This leadership role requires a balance of academic expertise, content innovation, and team management skills to maintain Shubhanga Publication's reputation for excellence in educational publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Quality & Development
  • Ensure all academic content meets the highest standards of accuracy, pedagogy, and alignment with curriculum frameworks (CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, NEP, etc.).
  • Oversee manuscript development, review, and editing processes for textbooks, teacher manuals, and digital content.
  • Introduce innovative teaching and learning approaches, ensuring that content remains relevant and engaging.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead, mentor, and guide subject matter experts, editors, and academic coordinators.
  • Assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and ensure smooth collaboration across departments (editorial, design, production, marketing).
  • Build a culture of accountability, creativity, and excellence within the academic team.
  • Project & Delivery Management
  • Drive timelines for manuscript completion, review cycles, and final production.
  • Could you coordinate with production teams to ensure the timely delivery of books and learning resources?
  • Implement structured workflows, quality checks, and approval processes.
  • Strategic Academic Direction
  • Stay updated with evolving education policies, curriculum updates, and global pedagogical trends.
  • Could you suggest new titles, series, and innovative formats for competitive positioning in the school segment?
  • Build strong relationships with schools, educators, and academic advisors for feedback-driven improvements.

Desired Qualifications & Skills

  • Master's degree or higher in Education/English/Science/Mathematics or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in academic publishing, curriculum design, or the education sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the school education system and curriculum frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance academic rigour with market needs and innovative formats.
  • Proficiency in handling multiple projects with strict timelines.
