Job Summary:

The Ice Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining ice production equipment and refrigeration systems to ensure consistent quality and output. The role involves ensuring smooth plant operations, maintaining hygiene standards, and performing routine maintenance on machines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor ice-making machinery, compressors, and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain the correct temperature and ensure efficient ice production.
  • Perform routine checks on plant equipment to detect malfunctions or irregularities.
  • Clean and sanitize ice machines, storage areas, and tools according to safety and hygiene standards.
  • Record daily production, energy consumption, and equipment performance logs.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize ice quality and output.
  • Load, unload, and handle ice blocks or bags safely.
  • Report mechanical issues and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
  • Monitor ammonia or Freon refrigeration systems (if applicable) following safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in packaging and loading of ice for distribution when required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or technical certificate in refrigeration, mechanical, or electrical field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in ice plant operations or refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial refrigeration (ammonia or Freon systems).
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, and control panels accurately.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in cold environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certificate or license in refrigeration operation or maintenance.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance and basic repair work.
  • Familiarity with production management systems or SCADA.

Work Environment:

  • Cold storage and production areas.
  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
