Role Overview

The Legal Executive will be responsible for managing and assisting in all legal proceedings pertaining to DRT, DRAT, and other recovery forums related to stressed asset resolution. The candidate will coordinate with external counsels, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely execution of legal actions for asset recovery and enforcement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and file applications, written statements, and rejoinders before DRT / DRAT and other related authorities.
  • Liaise with advocates, banks, and financial institutions on cases pertaining to SARFAESI Act, IBC, and Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act (RDBA).
  • Track ongoing cases, prepare cause lists, maintain case status updates, and ensure timely follow-up with counsels.
  • Assist in documentation for asset acquisition, settlement agreements, and enforcement actions.
  • Review title documents, loan agreements, and other recovery-related contracts.
  • Coordinate with business and finance teams for compliance with legal and regulatory timelines.
  • Prepare periodic legal MIS, case summaries, and status reports for management review.
  • Handle any other assigned legal work related to NPA resolution and recovery.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • LLB / BL from a recognized university (LLM preferred but not mandatory).
  • 3-5 years of experience in banking recovery / DRT / SARFAESI / IBC matters.
  • Prior experience with Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARC), Banks, or NBFCs will be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of Debt Recovery Laws, SARFAESI Act, and IBC framework.
  • Strong drafting and communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work independently with external legal counsels.
  • Must be based in Chennai.
