Job Description Summary

Support Engineering Manager will lead and manage a team of support engineers, focusing on providing technical support for internal and external services, driving operational excellence, and enhancing customer experiences. 

Job Description
We're looking for an exceedingly talented Technologist to work as part of the Risk Engineering development team. As a Technologist in the team, you'll be responsible for the technical direction of our Risk Products, ensuring that we are using appropriate technologies and helping drive initiatives to bring customer value and efficiency in operation. You'll work closely with architects to ensure that technical choices are aligned with the overall architecture of our products. Mentoring members of the team also forms a crucial part of the role, working alongside the team management to ensure that the team has the capabilities it needs to deliver.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership and Management: Provide guidance, coaching, and performance management to support engineers. 
  • Technical Support: Oversee the delivery of technical support for products and services, ensuring timely and effective resolution of customer issues. 
  • Operational Excellence: Drive improvements in support processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Customer Experience: Ensure a positive and consistent customer experience by addressing issues promptly and effectively. 
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with other teams, including engineering, product, and sales, to address technical challenges and improve product quality. 
  • Escalation Management: Serve as a point of escalation for complex or high-priority technical issues, ensuring timely resolution. 
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to support operations and report on team performance and trends. 
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve the overall efficiency of the support team. 
  • Mentorship and Development: Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and professional development. 
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of support strategies and plans aligned with business goals.

Technical Skills Required


• Core Java language, J2EE, Spring framework, data structures, multi-threading and exception handling

• Working with relational databases - PostgreSQL/MySQL with proficiency in data-modelling, SQL, ORM, JPA, etc.


• Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behavior Driven Development


• Experience of developing for the AWS Cloud


• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues

Leadership Experience Required


• Proven leadership and management experience


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills


• Experience with support ticketing systems and workflows


• Ability to work effectively in a fast-spaced, dynamic environment


• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies


• Experience with performance monitoring and reporting tools


• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

A good relevant degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are just as important.
