Role Description
An Engineer is responsible for maintenance of Application and its Production processes. Key responsibilities of this role include support of application jobs and functionalities in Integration, UAT and Production environment , cater to time critical, functionality upgrade requirements from Consumer, while maintaining green status of Application. Root cause analysis for UAT and Production abends. Adhoc Business request implementation with coding, testing and deployments. Assists more junior members of the team and controls their work where applicable.

Your key responsibilities
Task breakdown:
- Provides extended support to L2 operations wherever applicable.
- Maintains running status of Production processes.
- Ensures timely communications to the stakeholders for ongoing activities, manages expectations.
- Caters to time critical requests like data manipulation, job modifications, rerun activities, data requests, abend resolution for UAT/Production environment.
- Supports and enables other team members, resolving challenges, ensuring no blockers for delivering L3 tasks.
- Monitors and tracks progress of L3 tasks, managing prioritization of deliveries through bilateral communication with Business and Analysts.
- Performs root cause analysis for abends and work towards implementing the solution.
- Provides Level 3 support for technical infrastructure components (i.e., databases, middleware and user interfaces).
- Handles tickets (incidents/service request/Jira) and guides junior team members.
- Responsible for code modifications as part of Business requests.
- Integrates software components following the integration strategy.
- Verifies integrated software components by unit and integrated software testing according to the software test plan. Software test findings must be resolved.
- Provides Release Deployments on non-Production Management controlled environments.
- Where applicable, manages maintenance of applications and performs technical change requests scheduled according to Release Management processes.
- Fixes software defects/bugs, measures and analyses code for quality.
- Collaborates with colleagues participating in other stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Identifies dependencies between software product components, between technical components, and between applications and interfaces.
- Identifies product integration verifications to be performed based on the integration sequence and relevant dependencies.
- Performs detailed impact analysis for Adhoc Customer requests and created development and testing plan.
- Develops and tests solutions to Adhoc Customer requests for upgrades on existing process.
- Maintains quality of code, deliverables.
- Creates and maintains Application operational documents and SDLC Release documents.
- Deploy the solution fulfilling new functionalities without causing impacts to ongoing processes.
Your skills and experience
General Skills
General skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent) – with a minor in Finance, Mathematics or Engineering.
- Very Good knowledge of the following technologies are needed:
- Mainframe Code Maintenance – Cobol, DB2, JCL
- Mainframe L3 Application Operations
- L2 (Application support) overview (good to have)
- SAS, Unix (good to have)
- Knowledge about the core processes / tools such as HP ALM, Jira, Service Now, Change management, Test documentation, SDLC, Agile processess.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Stakeholder management.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written/verbal).
- Ability to work in virtual teams and in matrixed organizations.
