About the Role: A Critical Opportunity

The Lead Supply will play a pivotal role in sourcing and procuring raw materials, chemicals, and services essential for our Contract Research and Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) vertical.

The role demands deep understanding of strategic sourcing, particularly across India and China, with a focus on cost optimization, supplier quality, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will work closely with R&D, production, logistics, legal, and quality teams to ensure aligned execution and regulatory compliance.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape Covvalent's global supply footprint and be at the forefront of innovation in chemical sourcing and supply chain excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, with a strong focus on China operations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) for key raw materials such as KSMs, APIs, solvents, and intermediates.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and structure long-term contracts to ensure competitive pricing, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with R&D and NPD teams to support new product development through supplier scouting and qualification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (procurement, legal, finance, logistics) to ensure seamless execution and compliance.
  • Proactively manage supply risks and disruptions; drive continuous improvement in supplier performance and process efficiency.
  • Ensure data transparency, supplier performance tracking, and reporting through appropriate tools and dashboards.

Qualifications

·  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.

·  6–10 years of relevant experience in sourcing, vendor management, or supply chain, ideally within CRAMS, specialty chemicals, or related sectors.

·  Proven track record of managing international supply chains, particularly China and India-based vendors.

·  Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.

·  Preferred experience in startup companies within the chemical industry.
