Who You Are
You are a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record of architecting, scaling, and leading world-class Developer Experience (DevX) and Developer Platform teams. You've successfully built internal platforms from the ground up or led transformations in complex, distributed organizations. You think strategically and act operationally — capable of setting a compelling vision while ensuring measurable delivery. You know how to balance developer empathy with technical excellence, and you lead with clarity, ownership, and influence. You're passionate about driving innovation through enabling great engineering practices, and you know how to attract, mentor, and grow top-tier platform engineering talent.

What You'll Do
As Director of Developer Platforms, you will own Zinnia's DevX strategy and lead a team of senior managers and managers in building best-in-class infrastructure, tooling, and practices that enhance developer productivity, platform resilience, and software delivery velocity.

• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for Developer Experience and Internal Developer Platforms at Zinnia.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a global team of managers, senior managers, and senior engineers across CI/CD, observability, dev environments, testing infrastructure, and automation platforms.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Security, and SRE to design and evolve platform standards that scale with Zinnia's rapid growth across regions and product lines.
• Drive architectural and operational excellence in internal developer systems — including build/deploy pipelines, sandbox environments, telemetry, fault injection systems, and release engineering frameworks.
• Ensure gold standards are codified into reusable tooling, opinionated golden paths, and secure-by-default frameworks.
• Establish and track engineering-wide KPIs around build times, release cadence, platform availability, MTTR, and test coverage.
• Champion engineering productivity initiatives — from friction audits to self-service tooling — that empower teams to ship faster and safer.
• Lead Zinnia's cultural transformation toward a developer-first engineering mindset with high standards in reliability, security, quality, and delivery.

What You'll Need

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading infrastructure, platform, or DevX teams at scale.
• Prior success in building or transforming a DevX or Developer Platform function — ideally in a modern cloud-native, microservices-based enterprise.
• Demonstrated experience managing managers and scaling globally distributed platform teams
• Proven ability to deliver high-leverage outcomes through strategy, people, and architecture.
• Deep expertise across modern CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, observability frameworks, and quality automation.
• Strong working knowledge of tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, Chaos Mesh, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and service mesh technologies.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable aligning senior technical leaders, engineering teams, and business counterparts.
• Data- and outcomes-oriented — able to define clear success metrics, drive adoption, and measure impact.
