Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and analytical professional to join our investment team as an Analyst - Startup Funding. This role is crucial in identifying, evaluating, and supporting high-potential startups across various sectors. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial analysis skills with market research capabilities to drive strategic investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Screening

  • Identify and source potential startup investment opportunities through various channels, conduct initial screening of business proposals and pitch decks

  • Maintain and expand network of entrepreneurs, accelerators, and industry contacts, rack emerging trends in startup ecosystems and sectors

Financial Analysis & Due Diligence

  • Perform comprehensive financial modeling and valuation analysis, perform detailed due diligence on potential investments including market analysis, competitive landscape, and business model validation

  • Assess financial projections, unit economics, and scalability potential and prepare investment memorandums and risk assessment reports

  • Analyze market size, growth potential, and competitive dynamics. Research industry trends, regulatory environment, and technological developments

  • Benchmark startup performance against industry standards Maintain databases of portfolio companies and market intelligence

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or startup ecosystem

CFA Level 1 or equivalent financial certification preferred

Technical Skills

Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques (DCF, comparable analysis, precedent transactions). Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial databases

Knowledge of startup funding mechanisms (seed, Series A/B/C, convertible notes).Understanding of term sheets, cap tables, and equity structures

Industry Knowledge

Deep understanding of Indian startup ecosystem and regulatory framework. Knowledge of various sectors including fintech, edtech, healthtech, SaaS, and emerging technologies

Familiarity with accelerators, incubators, and funding platforms in India. Analytical & Research. Strong quantitative and qualitative research capabilities

Ability to synthesize complex information and present actionable insights. Experience with market research tools and methodologies

Communication & Interpersonal. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with founders, senior management, and investors

Presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders. Networking and relationship-building capabilities
