About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented SQL Administrator to manage and maintain our SQL Server database systems. In this role, you will ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of critical databases that support business operations, applications, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances (on-prem and/or cloud).
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies (indexes, query optimization, caching).
  • Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations as needed.

Backup, Recovery & Security:

  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans (e.g., full, differential, transaction log backups).
  • Ensure database availability and data integrity through proper high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
  • Manage user roles and permissions to enforce database security policies.

Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

  • Use tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), and Performance Monitor to analyze and troubleshoot database performance issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues including deadlocks, slow queries, blocking, and failed jobs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or cloud-hosted SQL environments.
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripting or automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSA: SQL Server are a plus.
