About Josh Talks (AI Division)Josh Talks' AI division ) builds high-quality, culturally-grounded datasets to power AI models in Indian contexts. Our work spans speech, vision, and multimodal data generation and benchmarking. We're launching India's first cultural evaluation benchmark for Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and are building tools to test and improve model performance on Indian imagery, rituals, and reasoning.

Role SummaryYou will lead computer vision research efforts focused on VLM benchmarking, image recognition, visual reasoning, and culturally relevant dataset development. This includes guiding dataset design, running model evaluations, developing annotation pipelines, and fine-tuning open models on Indian cultural tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Design visual evaluation benchmarks for tasks like image QA, grounding, captioning, cultural reasoning
  • Evaluate model performance on Indian datasets using tools like GPT-4V, Gemini, LLaVA, Claude
  • Guide and verify image/video data annotation for tasks like bounding boxes, referring expressions, and scene QA
  • Fine-tune open-source vision-language models on Indian datasets
  • Work with speech + vision researchers to define multimodal testing setups
  • Contribute to benchmark leaderboards and leaderboard publication strategies
  • Publish technical papers and internal reports on dataset structure and model behaviorQualifications
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related field
  • Experience working with VLMs (e.g., LLaVA, BLIP-2, Flamingo, GPT-4V)
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills with ability to run model inference pipelines
  • Knowledge of annotation schemas (e.g., COCO, Visual Genome, RefCOCO)
  • Experience working with image datasets in multilingual, multicultural contextsNice to

  • Experience with video understanding or video-language alignment
  • Familiarity with evaluation metrics like BLEU, CIDEr, grounding accuracy
  • Background in UX or design for visual benchmarking tools
  • Fluency in any Indian language for reviewing cultural content
  • Contributions to open datasets or vision model toolkits
