Job Description – VMC Programmer

Position Title: VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Programmer

Department: Production / CNC Machining

Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Head

Role Purpose

The VMC Programmer will be responsible for creating CNC programs for Vertical Machining Centers, setting up machines, and ensuring components are produced as per aerospace/engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software, cutting tools, machining processes, and precision measurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Programming & Setup
• Develop CNC programs for VMC machines using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360, Delcam, etc.).
• Optimize machining processes, cutting parameters, and tool paths for accuracy and efficiency.
• Set up tools, fixtures, and work offsets on VMC machines.
• Machining & Production
• Run trial components, validate machining programs, and make necessary corrections.
• Ensure parts meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and tolerance requirements.
• Work on both new part development and repeat production runs.
• Quality & Compliance
• Perform in-process inspections using gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, CMM, etc.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 / aerospace quality standards (if applicable).
• Maintain proper records of programs, tool lists, and job setup sheets.
• Continuous Improvement
• Reduce cycle time, minimize tool wear, and improve overall efficiency.
• Participate in root cause analysis for machining issues.
• Support lean manufacturing and 5S practices on the shop floor.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:
• Diploma / ITI / Bachelor's in Mechanical, Production, or related engineering field.
• Experience:
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in VMC programming & operation (preferably in aerospace/precision machining).
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, NX, CATIA, Fusion 360, or similar).
• Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and materials (aluminum, steel, titanium, etc.).
• Knowledge of GD&T and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Other Skills:
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
• Attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.
• Team player with good communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50, ₹60,000.00 per month
