Job Overview:

As a LaTeX Composer, you will be responsible for formatting, typesetting, and preparing complex documents using LaTeX. You will work closely with authors, editors, and designers to ensure that the final documents meet high-quality standards for publication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Format academic, scientific, and technical manuscripts, including books, journals, research papers, and reports, using LaTeX.
• Implement various elements such as equations, bibliographies, tables, figures, and citations to meet publication standards.
• Ensure consistency in document structure, typography, and style according to specific client or publishing guidelines.
• Review and troubleshoot LaTeX code to resolve any formatting issues or errors.
• Collaborate with authors and editors to address layout, design, and content issues.
• Work with designers to integrate LaTeX output with other design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign or Illustrator) when needed.
• Maintain templates, style files, and macros to ensure efficient document production.
• Format and check final proofs for correctness before publication.
• Stay up-to-date with LaTeX developments and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in LaTeX for document typesetting and composition, including experience with mathematical, scientific, and technical documents.
• Familiarity with TeX-based editing tools, such as Overleaf or TeXShop.
• Knowledge of bibliographic management tools (e.g., BibTeX, BibLaTeX) and integration into LaTeX.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in complex documents.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot LaTeX code.
• Experience with other publishing software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
• A degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Publishing, or relevant experience in typesetting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with authors, editors, and designers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the publishing industry, particularly in scientific, academic, or technical publishing.
• Familiarity with advanced LaTeX packages (e.g., TikZ, PGFPlots) for creating complex diagrams or plots.
• Experience with automation and scripting within LaTeX to streamline production workflows.
