Job Summary
Dotdash is looking for a QA Engineer 2 with Java Frameworks to partner with the development teams responsible for the core web framework that powers the websites for one of the largest and fastest-growing online publishers. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of how to develop automated functional tests for Web applications & Service layer. The ideal candidate is capable of critiquing functional requirements and design choices and their impact on how applications behave in the production environment for millions of users. She or he will be able to work with the QA managers in modifying STLC processes and maintain high-quality work product while accelerating delivery. This role requires experience with testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and a deep understanding of JavaScript programming.

Primary Responsibilities

  • This position requires a highly competent, self-directed individual who can help shape processes and define testing standards.
  • We are looking for someone with experience in navigating a variety of technical environments.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently on their own as well as contribute to group projects and complete tasks on schedule in a fast-paced, upbeat environment.
  • Potential candidates should have extensive experience testing the functionality, compatibility, and integration of web applications.
  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests using Java and RestAssured.
  • Should be well-versed in API & Integration testing and automation using tools like Postman, Rest assured, and Node.
  • It would be great to have hands-on knowledge using JavaScript frameworks such as Cypress, Protractor, or Playwright.
  • Collaborate with developers to identify and resolve defects and other issues.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites to ensure product quality.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in software testing and automation.
  • Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of developer tools like Chrome Dev/Firebug.
  • Strong knowledge of deployment practices into Production environments and Jenkins pipelines in including Jenkins DSL to create and modify pipelines.
  • You understand the importance of not only testing but also reporting, especially in the context of CI/CD tooling. You have experience with source code systems like Bitbucket or equivalent.
  • Participate in daily cross-functional SCRUMs for projects running concurrently.
  • Produce status reports, prioritize bugs, and contribute to Sprint planning sessions.
  • Familiarity with how web applications are deployed in the context of cloud environments and container-based technologies like Docker.
  • Lead the functional team, provide guidance, and enable continuous skill development in the functional area
  • Manage and mentor QA engineers on your team to grow their skills and prepare them for increased responsibility.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's in Engineering (B.E./ B.Tech Degree) with 5+ years of experience in developing/scripting automated functional tests in Java.
  • Interested in expanding your history of mentorship and guidance into a leadership role.
  • Experienced with API automation using tools like Postman, Rest Assured using Java.
  • Expertise in automating complex headless applications and web applications using complex frameworks.
  • Experience with test management tools such as TestRail or Zephyr is a plus.
  • Experience with JavaScript programming and frameworks such as Cypress, Protractor, or Playwright is a plus.
  • Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts, and automated scripts.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies and practices.
  • Familiarity with software configuration management, release management, and database manipulation, like git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud-based development practices in AWS/GCP and container native technologies like Docker.
  • Highly proficient in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver and manage deadlines in an agile development environment.
